Write in Markdown, send it looking good: Telegram now understands rich text

Telegram launched rich formatting in 2026. We have built a tool to make the most of it: you write Markdown as usual and the message arrives with real headings, lists, tables and formulas — no copying and pasting.

You write a message with a bit of structure — a heading, a couple of bullet points, a table — and in Telegram it arrives raw: the #, * and - characters in plain view, with no formatting. Copying and pasting from an editor did not fix anything either. Until now.

What has changed

In 2026 Telegram launched rich formatting (Bot API 10.1): real headings, nested lists, tables, quotes and even formulas. It is a big leap for anyone who sends structured information over Telegram: proposals, reports, summaries, documentation.

The catch: making the most of it means talking to the new API. So we have sorted that out for you.

The tool: two ways to use it

Depending on what you need, there are two modes.

1. In any chat, for anyone — inline mode

In the message bar of any conversation, type the bot followed by your Markdown:

@OksigeniaMD_bot # Heading **important** and a list

Tap the result that appears and the message is sent to that chat with rich formatting, as you. Nothing to install, from your phone, your desktop or the web.

2. Write normally, without a second thought — Business mode

There is a second mode, for the account owner: with Telegram Premium, the bot connects to a Business account and rewrites the owner's own outgoing messages when they contain structure (headings, lists, tables…), in place, with no tags and no length limit. For now we use it internally: opening it to third parties would mean processing private messages on our servers, and we would only do that with full data protection guarantees. That is why the mode open to everyone is the inline one above, which sees no conversations at all.

Before and after

What you write:

# This week's plan
Goals:
- Close the proposal
- Review the report

Quick note: the formula $E = mc^2$ still holds 🙂

What arrives in the chat: “This week's plan” as a real heading, a genuine bulleted list, and the formula properly typeset. The same text, but readable at a glance.

How it is built (for anyone interested)

  • On Telegram's Bot API 10.1+ and the conversion of Markdown into its rich format.
  • It works by polling: it exposes no ports and needs no domain.
  • Privacy by design: the public (inline) mode sees no conversations at all — Telegram only passes it what you type after the @bot — and does not log the content. Business mode is for internal use; if we ever opened it to third parties, it would be with a data protection review (GDPR). Hardening and privacy are our speciality, not an add-on.

Why we are telling you this

At Oksigenia we like building small tools, well made and well protected, that solve a specific annoyance. This one came from a real need — sending a long message and having it read well — and ended up as something anyone can use. If your team has a similar friction point, internal or customer-facing, we can probably help.
